the integration of the Ultra-Orthodox[עריכה]

Hager has become one of the most influential figures in advancing and advocating for the integration of the Ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) community into Israeli society. In doing so, Hager has initiated various tracks allowing the integration of Haredi youth in the army, the most famous of which is the NahalHaredi brigade, which was started seventeen years ago in 1999 with thirty soldiers, and gradually grew to become the largest ground combat brigade in the Israeli Defense Forces. Today there are over two thousand Ultra-Orthodox soldiers in the IDF, and more than 10,000 graduates. More than ninety percent of these graduates are successfully employed and have managed to fully integrate into the working world. He has developed programing which fosters the integration of Haredim into the income-producing and business worlds, including a unique program combining military service with high-tech and yeshiva studies guided by rabbinical staff to prepare Haredi soldiers for the challenges they will face.
